Job Search Tracker Change Log

Job Search Tracker — Changelog
← Back to the Job Search Tracker

Updates are free. To update without losing your data, export a full backup first (Settings › Data), download the newest version from My Account, copy all of the files over your old ones, and open job-tracker.html. Version 2.0 upgrades your data the first time it opens and deletes nothing. The README inside the ZIP has the same history.

Version 2.0 — October 2026

  • One page with five tabs: Dashboard, Active, History (the old Archive), Agencies, and Analytics. Records open in a side panel; pop-ups are used only for quick entry. Your old bookmarks open the matching tab
  • Four kinds of record: a specific job, an inquiry, an agency or talent-pool sign-up, and a job board profile. Inquiries and agency contacts are counted on their own, never as applications
  • Agencies tab: staffing firms, recruiters, talent pools, and job board profiles, with statuses, recruiter threads, linked jobs, response rate, days to first human contact, and requisitions per firm. It replaces the 1.2 Staffing agency dropdown
  • Source now means where you found the listing, and Method how you submitted it. “Online” is split into Job board quick apply and Employer or firm careers site, with an optional ATS platform field. Older “Online” records read “Online (unspecified)” and are never guessed
  • “Waiting on you” on the Dashboard: assessments to complete, follow-ups due, upcoming interviews, offers awaiting an answer, and agency follow-ups. A follow-up reminder checkbox is on the add form and in the side panel
  • Screening steps for assessments, AI voice and chat screens, and one-way video, kept out of “human contact”
  • New statuses and closings: Offer Accepted, Offer declined, Withdrawn by me, and Posting closed. None of the closings is counted as a rejection. Accepting an offer asks whether to withdraw your other applications
  • Reactivate a closed record from History, or from the add form when you start to log a job you already closed. The earlier outcome stays in the record’s timeline
  • Staffing-firm duplicate check (end client and requisition) and a “Same job as” link between records
  • Optional résumé tailoring fields (kept in the full backup only)
  • With the DOL module on: a weekly work-search record on the Dashboard following Georgia’s DOL-2798 categories, with print and mark-reported, plus an optional weekly minimum you enter for your state. The tracker knows no state’s rules
  • New Settings tab, Features: weekly goal, agency follow-up days, and three opt-in features that are off by default: Search insights, AI tool comparisons, and status and milestone messages
  • New analytics: offers breakdown, inquiries, Application Pace, screening steps, tailoring, Method since the split, ATS platform, and by staffing firm. Every 1.2 panel is kept
  • CSV export and import cover agency records; import matches columns by name and reads pay, level, and industry
  • Safer saving: if the tracker is open in two windows, a save checks for changes made in the other window and offers to reload instead of overwriting
  • New fictional sample data showing every feature
  • User Guide, Quick Start Guide, How to Read Your Data, and EULA rewritten for 2.0. The EULA adds that analytics and insights are for information only

Version 1.2 — October 12, 2026

  • Optional job details on the application form: posted pay (annual or hourly), field, job level, and industry, plus an “applying on purpose” checkbox and note for jobs outside your current search mode
  • Optional Profile settings: experience by field (years in each field, not total years worked), target level, target industries, and target pay with an optional bridge floor and search mode. The tracker never asks about savings or runway
  • Profile: you can now list every field you have worked in, one row per field. Previously the list stopped at six rows without saying so. The Add button now tells you when every field is listed, and duplicate fields are dropped when you save
  • New analytics panels: By Job Level, By Industry, By Posted Pay vs Your Ranges, and level, industry, and experience fit
  • Resume variants now work as base resumes with versions. Switching to a new version retires the old one from the dropdown for new applications, but it stays in your history and analytics. Retire this resume and Bring back this version buttons added. Your existing versions are grouped automatically and keep their data
  • Job boards: Settings › Additions has a job board checklist, and the application form shows a Job board dropdown when Source is Job Board
  • Staffing agencies: a second checklist in Settings › Additions (Insight Global, Robert Half, TEKsystems, Randstad, Kforce, Aerotek, Jobot, plus your own), an optional Staffing agency dropdown on the form, and a By Staffing Agency comparison in analytics
  • Settings program split into four files (settings-core.js, settings-data.js, settings-ui.js, settings.js). Copy all files when you update; nothing changes in how it works
  • Dark mode: settings labels are easier to read
  • User Guide, Quick Start Guide, and How to Read Your Data updated to match

Version 1.1 — October 9, 2026

  • New Application Pace panel on the analytics dashboard: average applications per week, your last four weeks, your highest and lowest weeks, and a weekly chart
  • New application-to-interview overview: interview rate, rounds per interviewed job, and median days to the first interview
  • Interview and offer rate shown for each resume version
  • Remove Interview and Remove Round no longer delete the application
  • Changing a job’s status away from Interview Scheduled asks whether to keep its interview rounds
  • Archive page: a button to add or remove interviews on archived records
  • Recording a rejection or a mutual decision on a job with an interview starts on the Interview contact choice
  • User Guide and How to Read Your Data updated to match
