Job Search Tracker – New Feature (Application Pace)

The Job Search Tracker has a new panel: Application Pace. It answers a question every job hunter asks and few tools can answer: am I applying enough, and am I applying consistently?

What it shows

  • Average per week: every application divided by the number of completed weeks since your first one. Weeks with no applications count as zero, so the average is honest.
  • Last 4 weeks: your recent pace, next to the pace for all the weeks before it, so you can see whether you are speeding up or slowing down.
  • Highest and lowest week: the most and fewest applications in a single week, with the dates. When several weeks tie, the tile says so.
  • A weekly chart: your most recent 26 completed weeks, with your average as a dashed line.

What it doesn’t say

It measures effort, not results. A busy week is only a good week if your interview rate holds up, so the panel sits right beside the application-to-interview numbers, and the How to Read Your Data guide explains how to read the two together. A low week isn’t a failure either. Everyone has weeks when life gets in the way, and the tracker just reports the number.

The User Guide and How to Read Your Data guide were updated to cover it.

Get it

The Job Search Tracker is $25, one time, with no subscription. It runs in your browser, and your data stays on your machine. If you know someone who is job hunting, send them this post.
